You tin plough whatsoever animal into a Cosmic Animate being – rhinos, kangaroos, horses, anything!
Set up to learn how to draw a cat?
Let'southward begin!
For a model, I used this cat photo that I took during my visit to Italian republic in the summer of 2022:
I cropped the photo to show a close-upward of his face. I love the way he's staring straight into the photographic camera!
Next, I divided the picture into a simple grid by cartoon a line in the eye of the moving picture both horizontally and vertically:
On my newspaper, I drew a similar grid:
To draw the grid, first I drew a rectangle on my newspaper that was 7 inches beyond and 7.75 inches tall. To describe the interior lines of the filigree, I divided those measurements in half. Therefore, the vertical centre line was three.five inches in, and the horizontal centre line was 3 vii/8 inches in.
Now, using the grid every bit a guideline, I drew the true cat's face on my paper. The filigree method makes information technology easier to describe accurately, instead of merely eyeballing it. Past using a grid to learn how to draw a true cat, you lot can compare where the cat'due south features are in relation to the lines on the photo, and and then describe them on your newspaper in relation to the lines on your grid.
For example, look at the photo of the true cat, and notice where his ears are. Yous can run across that they are in the corners of the photo, but not quite touching the edge of the grid. So your task is to replicate that on your paper. Next look at how his chin is near the bottom edge of the photo, right in the centre of the cardinal vertical line, and describe that on your paper. Depict lightly, so that you can erase any mistakes. (But more chiefly, don't be afraid of making mistakes! No one gets information technology right on the first effort. That's what erasers are for!)
Follow these same steps to draw the outline of the cat's head, as well as his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. If you desire, you can also draw outlines to signify the different patches of color on the cat's fur, similar I did below:
Here comes the fun role: now you get to the color the cat however y'all want – using any designs, patterns and colors that you want! I'll bear witness you how I drew mine, simply experience free to follow your artistic elation and draw your cat in your own unique way.
First I outlined the true cat's head and principal features with violet:
Then I did something interesting. I put a canvas of bare newspaper over the drawing, and used a ballpoint pen to draw whiskers on the bare encompass sheet, like and then:
"At present why did she do that?" yous may be request. Let me share with you lot a cool colored pencil technique:
When you remove the cover canvas, your cartoon paper will now be indented with the lines you drew on the embrace sheet with the ball point pen. When y'all depict with your colored pencils over those indented lines, the indented lines will stay (by and large) white!
You lot'll observe that I drew the indentations over the imperial outline, so there will be some purple in the whiskers. Why did I do that?
Well, I drew the majestic outline first so that I could clearly see information technology through the other piece of paper that I placed on top of it - otherwise I wouldn't know where to depict the whiskers. Then the part of the whiskers that become over the purple outline won't be white, but for all intents and purposes, I'm okay with that.
Next I colored in his eyes. I drew sort of a multicolored striped pattern, but y'all can color your cat's eyes any way you want! You tin can make them a unmarried color, or a few colors, or draw polka dots or hearts! Upwards to you!
And so I started working on the cat's ears:
Once again, yous can describe any design you want! I finished out the cat's ears:
Then I moved on to his fur. I looked at the cat photograph and picked out the darkest areas of fur and in my motion-picture show I drew those areas in red with white polka dots:
Next I drew several orangish circles inside circles (kind of like a target shape) in between several of the red areas:
And so I drew yellow circles effectually the orange circles:
The next step was to fill up in the rest of the blank areas at the top of the true cat'south head. I chose to color in those areas with lite bluish, and use a darker blue to add together some short "fur" lines.
Next I filled in the middle role of the true cat's face with greens and yellows, along with some darker green fur lines. I also went back and added some dark blue fur lines into the carmine spots, to help requite the true cat'southward fur more texture.
Then I finished the cat by coloring in the lesser one-half of his face up with soft pinks, lavenders and blues.
Remembers those whisker indentations I drew before? In the photograph below, you can encounter that those indentations stayed white, fifty-fifty though I colored over them:
Yous tin can besides run across that I added calorie-free blue lines underneath the indentations to accent the whiskers, to make them more than visible. In the photograph below, compare the absolute whiskers with the blank whiskers and you'll come across what I mean:
And here is the finished drawing!!
Pretty cosmic, eh?
